Hi there! Its likely you and I are about to exchange money for goods and you are shipping to me. The following simple information will help you learn how to do that to Canada and many other countries too! Its easy and the same applies to all International Shipments via the US Postal Service!

I have found using the US Postal Service web site is fairly accurate if you know the item
weight. (http://ircalc.usps.gov)
Once there... Click on: A Package (No correspondence enclosed)
Input the weight and destination. It will give you a rate chart by box size.
Apply the appropriate rate by measuring the box.
EXAMPLE #1:
2 LB box
Airmail Letter Post: 4-7  Days
$6.35
Max. length 24", Max. length, height, depth combined 36"
(The box size is the key to using this mail class. You must request it.)

EXAMPLE #2:
If the box is bigger then the above dimensions you would go to the next category:
Parcel Post: Airmail
Max. length 60", max. length plus girth 108"
4 - 7 Days- $13.28 (or whatever the rate reads)

Shipping to Canada is easy;
I just thought I would mention a few pointers about shipping here. Once you go to the post office with the item you will be asked to fill out a little green form called a CN22 if the item fits into Example #1. This is a small 2 part form which gives you a copy of the shipment and trace number. Simply fill in the description... for example.... "Model Truck" and declare only the actual Ebay closing value of $8.00 that I paid at auction. Mark it as "Merchandise"...... sign your JH (sign it) and that's it! Keep the copy for your records. I usually provide a CN22 already filled out with my US funds check payments. I will pay duty on the amount declared so make sure its only the closing Ebay value and not an over insured value.

If you buy insurance it is insured for up to $100. If you say that is the value... they will mark the value at
$100. So only insure for the amount of the declared Ebay closing bid value. I don't want $100 for something I only
paid $8 for. AND I pay heavy duty (another $13!!!!) because the $8 item was valued at $100 US! See what I mean?

On larger boxes as seen in Example #2 above.... you may have to fill out a CN72 form which also provides you with a Customs trace number and shipping copy. This is a 4 part no carbon form. Both are provided by the US Postal Service. They are fairly similar and should be filled out as above. Believe it or not we have to do the same to ship through US Customs from here.
